To the beautiful Indian country that I love.”

After much deliberation about what show to do in 2003, it was decided that as it was the Societies 10th anniversary, we should do again the show we did 8 years ago, “Calamity Jane”. It turned out that there are currently very few members of the Society who were with us when we last did the show so for the majority it will be a new show.
“Calamity Jane” was performed at our usual venue between October 8th and October 11th 2003. We again used the band for the show, but in this case we extended the stage forward and the band were on the back of the stage. During the scenes in the “Golden Garter” they were part of the scene as the “Golden Garter Band”. The show was a success and was sold out for most performances.
SYNOPSIS
In the wild-west outpost of Deadwood City, 1876, we find the sharpshooting tomboy, CALAMITY JANE surrounded by cowboys, townsfolk, and the famous Wild Bill Hickok. After a mix-up in the talent pool at Deadwood's saloon-theater, Calam goes to Chicago to import to Deadwood the glamorous actress, Adelaid Adams, but returns by mistake with her maid, Katie Brown instead. Back in Deadwood, Katie's inability to perform is overcome as she wins the heart of the young Lieutenant Danny Gilmartin, and when Calam sheds her tomboy persona at a ball at the local Fort and becomes a true woman, she realizes that she loves Wild Bill Hickok.
