Our 2007 show was "Godspell” and was performed over two successive weekends at the beginning of October. The role of Jesus was taken on by Chris Penn, who joined us for the first time and Martyn combined his usual role of Musical Director with that of Producer/Director. The show was updated to include multimedia presentations and was a great success despite the challenge of Chris being taken ill before the final show. Andy Radford did a sterling job taking over as Jesus at the last minute.
Our production also had a 'show within a show' - the parable of the good samaritan was redone by some of the cast filmed by Matt Hickinbottom. The result was brilliant - have a look !
SYNOPSIS
Godspell is a fun, modern day retelling of the New Testament parables from The Gospel According to Matthew. The show is at times comedic and at times sentimental. The cast of actors/clowns often use their own names as they help explain to the audience the teachings of Jesus Christ.
